Rolf Sieker who moved from Berlin, Germany to Texas a little more than a year ago won the Texas State Banjo Championship 2001. He was pictured in the May 1998 issue of Banjo Newsletter after aquiring Bobby Thompson's famous Baldwin studio banjo. Rolf put that very special banjo to good use in winning that championship. The tunes he performed were "Pickaway", "Dixie Hoedown", "Sweet Georgia Brown" and "High Performance", - an original tune that he recorded on his tribute album to Bobby Thompson, Nashville Cat.
